THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES
Thursday & Friday, September 17 & 18 @ 8:00pm
Saturday, September 19 @ 2:00pm
Williams Hall TV Studio (room 107)
Presented by the Miami University College of Creative Arts Department of Music Opera Ensemble
Free admission, tickets required*
In a space that transports us to the surface of Mars, Elizabeth Margid and Daniel Levy ('84) reimagine The Martian Chronicles, Ray Bradbury's iconic novel about the human colonization of the Red Planet. Neither a traditional musical or opera, this Martian Chronicles is a theatrical experience that takes the audience on an active, 360-degree trek across the planet's surface. As they stand and move with our actors, they will encounter moments of first contact between humans and those who call Mars home. A cautionary tale that explores themes of colonization, identity, and "otherness"-themes that speak as much, if not more so, to today's world as it did to Bradbury's 1950's audience.
This presentation will be a 45-minute workshop of three selected scenes from the larger piece.
