Otis Latin-RHP-Pearland High School
2012 stats: 5-2 1.12 era 49.2 inn 13 hits 93K's
All-district pitcher 20-5A while attending Madison High School...led district 20-5A in strikeouts both as a sophomore and junior...transferred to Pearland High School for his senior season...currently plays for coach Anthony Scalise...leads Houston area in strikeouts... struck out 17 in 2 games this year while throwing a one-hitter vs. Clear Creek and a no-hitter vs. Clear Lake
Coach David Pierce-"Otis has the stuff to come in and be an immediate contributor. His curve ball is electric and he has the arm strength to pitch in the low 90's with his FB. He plays for a former player of mine in Anthony Scalise, so I know he will be prepared for the next level. Otis comes from a great family, he is a very good student and will bring great character traits to SHSU".
Coach Sean Allen-"We had to battle a C-USA and a BIG 12 schools for Otis. That in its self tells you what kind of talent this young man is. His breaking ball is probably the best breaking ball I have seen at the high school level. He competes, he wants the ball when the game is on the line. That is what I like most about Otis."
Dirk Masters -RHP/1B L/R-Angleton High School
Plays for coach Uden Pounds...played for Mizuno Houston Select during the summer for coaches Shane Nance and Micah McAdams... .568 average and eight HR has a junior.... two-time all-state selection ... Brazoria County "Offensive Player-of-the-Year," Houston area "Hitter of the Year" and District MVP in 2011
Coach Pierce "Dirk's resume is very impressive as a two-way player. He potentially can play 1st or 3rd and runs well enough to compete for a corner outfield spot. On the mound he is a 3 pitch mix kid that has been over 90. Dirk will be a asset to the SHSU community on and off the field".
Coach Allen-"Dirk has the ability to be an elite player in our conference. He has plus power from the left side of the plate and has a great arm. We are going to count on him to contribute at home plate and on the mound. He his 6'4'' with long, loose arms. He has a lot of room to grow and mature, which will allow him to make some jumps in both his power at home plate and his velocity on the mound."
LOGAN BOYD- LHP - ATASCOCITA H.S.
All-district pitcher in 2011....plays for head coach Eric Matthews
2012 stats 7-1 record .27 era 51innings 90K's
Outstanding athlete who threw a no hitter vs Kingwood in 2012
Coach David Pierce " Logan finalizes our 2012 recruiting class. He has great feel for 3 pitches and works with great tempo. He has been a standout pitcher for Coach Mathews and Atascocita H.S. for the past 2 seasons. He brings an exceptional work ethic to SHSU on and off the field. Logan should be an immediate impact player for us".
Coach Sean Allen "Logan is another arm that we expect to come in and contribute in a big way as a freshman in 2013. He plays in arguably the best district in the area and has dominated for 2 years. He made a good jump this season with his velocity and his stats show that. 90 strikeouts in 51innings in his district shows me he has legitimate swing and miss stuff. Logan is a great student and outstanding kid on top of being a good player."
