Divers Complete Day 2 at NCAA Zone B Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Nick McCrory and sophomore Deon Reid both advanced to the men’s one-meter springboard final to lead Duke Tuesday at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships, held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

McCrory, who wrapped up his fourth career trip to the NCAA Championship Monday with a first-place showing on the three-meter board, earned 386.90 points in the one-meter final to bring his combined score to 782.95. That placed him second behind only Miami’s Samuel Dorman, who took first with 808.10 total points.

Reid advanced to the one-meter final for the second consecutive year, coming in 15th with a total award of 596.45 over his two lists of dives. His highest-scoring dive of the final came in the second round, when he garnered a score of 54.00 from the judges on an inward 1 ½ somersault for a 2.4 degree of difficulty.

Freshman Kirby Quinn was also in action for the Blue Devils Tuesday, registering a 31st-place finish in the preliminaries of the women’s three-meter event. She received a score of 238.70 on her list of six dives, ending the round by collecting 52.65 points on an inward 2 ½ somersault for a 2.7 degree of difficulty.
