CEDAR CITY, Utah - May 2 - Cameron Levins made Track & Field headlines again when he was added The Bowerman Watch List, ranking among the top ten student-athletes in the nation to be considered for The Bowerman award.
Levins earned a place in this prestigious list with his performances in both the 2012 indoor season and thus far in the outdoor season. Levins finished the indoor season with four individual titles at the conference level, going on to finish third in the 3,000-meters and fourth in the 5,000-meters at the NCAA Championships.
He has continued with outstanding performances in the outdoor season, leading the nation and the world in the 5,000-meters and 10,000-meters with first-place finishes at the Mt. SAC Relays and Payton Jordan Invitational in consecutive weekends. Levins' 5,000-meter time of 13:18.47 ranks fifth all-time in the collegiate records, while his 10,000-meter time of 27:27.96 ranks second all-time. Both times also qualify in the Canadian Olympic standards, earning Levins a place at London 2012 in August.
The Bowerman is presented by the USTFCCCA and is awarded to the top collegiate male and female athletes of the season. The award is named after Oregon head track & field/cross country coach Bill Bowerman, who served the track & field community as a coach and a leader in the National Collegiate Track Coaches Association (a predecessor of the USTFCCCA), along with many other accomplishments.
