ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State women’s soccer goalkeeper Nicole Inskeep was named Defensive Player of the Week by The Summit League for her performance last week.

Inskeep started in net for both games for the Jackrabbits at the University Texas-San Antonio Tournament. She recorded shutouts in both games against Lamar and Sam Houston State.

Over the weekend, Inskeep registered her first career win on Friday (Lamar, 3-0) and a shutout against Sam Houston State in a 0-0 tie on Sunday.

“It was great for Nikki to get the win under her belt and a couple of shutouts,” noted head coach Lang Wedemeyer.

She posted five saves over the weekend.

This is the first Defensive Player of the Week award for her.

Inskeep and the rest of the Jackrabbits will be back in action this weekend as they host the Jackrabbit Invitational. SDSU will play Nevada on Friday at 6 p.m. and Northern Illinois on Sunday at 1 p.m.
