GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The South Dakota State volleyball team looked to rebound for a season-opening loss to No. 15 Iowa State earlier on Friday with a good showing against Texas A&M in Friday night, but came up on the short end, as the Aggies downed the Jackrabbits 3-0 by the set scores of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-12.

"We didn’t respond well to the pressure that Texas A&M put on us tonight. Their speed got to us in all three sets," head coach Phil McDaniel said. "It’s a learning process, and we have to handle the ball better for us to succeed."

The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 0-2 on the season, while the Aggies, who received votes in the AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll, improve to 1-0.

No player on either team reached double-digit kills, but Texas A&M’s Angela Lowak did reach nine kills to lead all players in the match. She also added seven digs and a pair of block assists.

Both Mikala Hora and Courtney Roberts finished with five kills to lead the Jacks in the loss. Hora, along with Alanna Pengilly and Lizzlie Palmer all finished with seven digs to lead SDSU.

The Jackrabbits look to snap the season-opening skid on Saturday, when they take on host North Dakota at 1 p.m.
