Lusignan honored by The Summit League
ELMHURST, Ill. - Trent Lusignan was one of four athletes to be named Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year on Wednesday. Lusignan is the first athlete from SDSU to be honored with the title of Male Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
As a sophomore, Lusignan swept the 5,000-meter run and 10,000-meter run titles at The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships with his times of 14:29.42 and 30:10.47, respectively.
He posted season-best times of 14:13.11 (5,000-meter run) and 29:40.56 (10,000-meter run). His time of 29:40.56 qualified him for the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA West Preliminary Round. He posted a time of 32:37.44 in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA West Preliminary Round to place 40th.
Lusignan was named Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week on March 26th for his performance at the Missouri Relays where he finished second in the 5,000-meter run with his time of 14:22.63.
He currently ranks in the top-five in the SDSU outdoor record books in both the 5,000-meter run (fourth; 14:13.11) and the 10,000-meter run (third; 29:40.56).
