Lusignan shines in the rain
MUNCIE, Ind. – Despite the poor weather the Jackrabbits shined in the men’s 10,000-meter run at The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Jacks claimed three out of the top four spots, including Trent Lusignan winning with his time of 30:10.47. Michael Krsnak finished third when he clocked in at 30:37.48 and right behind him in fourth place was Anthony Bongard with a time of 30:39.08.
In the hammer throw, Cullen Mack finished eighth with his throw of 168’ 5.00”. Mack set a new personal best in the event; his previous mark was 166’ 9.00”.
Greenway currently stands in sixth place with 3148 points and Mercil is in eighth with 3118 points.
Greenway recorded personal bests in four events during the decathlon competition. He set personal bests in the 100-meter dash (11.30), the shot put (38’ 1.50”), the 400-meter dash (51.79) and the high jump (5’ 4.50”). Greenway also recorded a distance of 18’ 11.75” in the long jump.
In the javelin throw, he recorded a distance of 143’ 1.00”.
Mercil ran a time of 11.85 in the 100-meter dash to start the decathlon. In the long jump, he recorded a distance of 20’ 9.75”. Mercil took third in the shot put event with a distance of 38’ 11.75”. He posted a height of 5’ 5.75” in the high jump and ended the day with a time of 53.57 in the 400-meter dash.
SDSU is currently in second place with 22 points.
The Jackrabbits will back in action on Friday starting at 11 a.m. with the day two events of the decathlon. The field events will begin at 3 p.m. with the long jump and the running events start with 110-meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m.
