Softball adds one more for 2013-14
The South Dakota State softball team added Iowa Western Community College transfer KayCee Miller to the 2013-14 roster on Tuesday, as the incoming junior gained acceptance to South Dakota State University for the fall of 2013 and indicated her plans to play for the Jackrabbit softball team.
A 5-5 catcher from Omaha, Miller played for one season at Bradley University before transferring to Iowa Western, where she posted a .398 batting average through the first 41 games of the 2013 season in leading the Reiver softball team to the NJCAA National Tournament on May 15-18 in St. George, Utah.
Miller also recorded 12 doubles and six homeruns in the first 41 games of the season in 128 at bats with 49 RBI, 33 runs scored and a .633 slugging percentage.
In her one season at Bradley in 2011, Miller started 21 of 29 games before suffering a season-ending knee injury that also kept her of the field in 2012.
Before college, Miller played three years at Burke High School before playing her final season at Papillion-LaVista for her senior season, where she earned second team all-state honors and helped lead the Monarchs to a conference and district championship, along with a fourth place finish at the state tournament.
