Top times set in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa – The South Dakota State track and field program had three relay teams post top times in their respective events at the Drake Relays. The three relay teams posted times that rank in the top five in SDSU history.

The team of Megan Bren, Gina Fritz, Ashley Odegaard and Carly Carper ran the 4x200-meter in 1:40.42. They were .01 seconds away from tying the school record (1:40.41) set back in 2011.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Dominique Wright, Jared Foote, Justin Carson and Luke Leischner  ran the race in 1:27.19. They finished eighth overall. Their time ranks fourth in SDSU history.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Krista Creager, Tera Potts, Bobbie McLaury and Laura Lawton finished in 9:17.87. Their time ranks second overall in SDSU history.

The team of Leischner, Dominique Wright, Foote and LeAndre Kennedy ran a time of 43.10 in the prelims of the 4x100-meter relay.

Brooke Garner finished fifth in the discus throw with a distance of 170’ 04.00".

Shelby Assmus finished fifth in the hammer throw (170’ 2.00”) and 12th in the discus (134’ 10.00”).

Kip Janvrin Open

In the 1500-meter run, Samantha Anderson and Erin Hargens placed 14th and 15th, respectively. Anderson clocked in at 4:51.55 and Hargens finished in 4:51.77.

On Thursday, South Dakota State had a few athletes compete. In the men’s hammer throw, Ryan Ackman finished fourth with a season-best distance of 171’ 00.00”.

Blair Seamore tossed the javelin 145’ 1.00’ to place 10th.

Mt. Marty

Jeremiah Ary won his second career event as a Jackrabbit at the Mt. Marty Invite. Ary won the long jump with a distance of 23’ 02.75”.

In the 100-meter dash, Laron Broadway set a new personal best with his time of 11.11.

The Jackrabbits are back in action again tomorrow at the Drake Relays and the Drake Alternative. Action begins at 9 a.m. with Brooke Garner competing in the hammer throw at the Drake Relays.
