Jacks tied for 7th at Summit tourney

KELLER, Texas -- Morgan Fitts is tied for second place after the first day of the 2013 Summit League Golf Championship at the 6,119-yard, par-72 Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club.

The senior fired a 76 in the opening round and is one stroke back of leader Taylor Fisher (75) from Kansas City.

The Jacks posted a first round team score of 345, tied with Fort Wayne for 7th place.

Freshman Sydney MacDonald joins Fitts in the top-25 and is tied for 24th place after carding an 85 on day one of the three day tournament.

Sophomore Amber Houser is tied for 34th place after an opening round of 90.

Fellow sophomore Alli Plath shot a 94 and to finish in 41st place after day one.

Freshman Brianna Janu is in 45th place after a round of 101.

North Dakota State holds an eight stroke lead over Kansas City on the team leaderboard thanks to rounds of 76 from Amy Anderson and Hailey Boner, both tied with Fitts for 2nd place.

The second round begins Tuesday morning with the women’s field teeing-off at 8:00 a.m.
