Personal bests fall out west

AZUSA, Calif. – The South Dakota State men’s track and field team had a handful of athletes find success in competition in the Bryan Clay Invite and the Mt. SAC relays.

Justin Carson ran a time of 54.61 in the 400-meter hurdles. He finished fourth in his heat and 11th overall. He also ran the 200-meter dash in 22.62. His time in the 200-meter dash is a personal best.

Jeremiah Ary finished 10th in the long jump with a distance of 22' 8.00". Ary also placed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 46’ 9.50”.

In the pole vault, Nathaniel Schaefer beat his personal best by seven inches. In the event he placed 11th with a height of 14’ 10.75”.

Joel Reichow ran a time of 4:02.53 in the 1500-meter run.

Anthony Bongard competed in the 5,000-meter at the Mt. SAC Relays. He finished second overall with a time of 14:23.94. His time today is a new personal best.

Jared Foote posted a time of 48.94 in the 400-meter run. He placed 12th out of 64 runners. He also completed the 200-meter dash in 22.27.

Phillip LaVallee clocked in at 1:54.71 in the 800-meter run.

LeAndre Kennedy posted a time of 10.94 in the 100-meter dash. He placed second in his heat and 15th overall. He also ran a time of 22.89 in the 200-meter dash.

In the high jump, Connor Berg placed 12th with a height of 6’ 3.50”.

Luke Leischner finished 21st overall in the 200-meter dash with his time of 22.13. He also ran a time of 11.10 in the 100-meter dash.

The Jackrabbits will wrap-up their California trip tomorrow at the Beach Invite in Norwalk, Calif. Next weekend the Jacks will be in action at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
