California here we come
The Jackrabbits will be getting use out of their frequent flyer miles this weekend as they travel to California to compete in the three meets. SDSU will also be competing in the Red Raider Open in Orange City, Iowa.
The Great West
SDSU will be competing in three meets this weekend in the golden state. The Jackrabbits will compete in the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invite and the Long Beach Invite.
The Mt. SAC Relays is noted as one of the most prestigious collegiate meets of the year. The Jacks will have nine athletes competing over two days in numerous events.
Tera Potts: 3000-meter steeplechase (4:00 p.m. PST)
Trent Lusignan: 10,000-meter Invite Elite (6:40 p.m. PST)
Erin Hargens: 10,000-meter Open (8:20 p.m. PST)
Anthony Bongard: 10,000-meter Open (9:00 p.m. PST)
Courtney Neubert: 10,000-meter Open (9:30 p.m. PST)
Amy Paulzine: Javelin (10:00 a.m. PST)
Ashley Odegaard: 100-meter dash (12:35 p.m. PST)
Brooke Garner: Hammer (2:00 p.m. PST)
Megan Bren: 200-meter dash (4:20 p.m. PST)
Garner: Discus (5:30 p.m. PST)
Lusginan: 5,000-meter Open (9:40 p.m. PST)
Bongard: 5,000-meter Open (10:53 p.m. PST)
The Bryan Clay Invite will take place on Friday starting at 9:00 a.m. (PST) with the men’s steeplechase and the women’s long jump.
The men's and women's hammer throw will begin the Long Beach Invite on Friday. The hammer throws are scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. (PST). The rest of the field events and the track events will take place on Saturday morning starting at 8:30 a.m. (PST) (men’s pole vault) and 8:45 a.m. (PST) (men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase).
The Real O.C.
The South Dakota State track and field teams will also be traveling to Orange City, Iowa to compete in the Red Raider Open. The Red Raider Open is hosted by Northwestern College.
Due to weather in the Upper Midwest the Red Raider Open will now only be a one day meet. The Red Raider will now be Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. (CST) with the hammer throw. The track events will start at 10:30 a.m. (CST).
Back-to-back for Brooke
Garner was honored earlier this week with her second consecutive Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award. She won the award for her performance at the Nebraska Quad last weekend. She finished first in the hammer throw and second in the discus.
The Jackrabbits will be at the famous Drake Relays next weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. After the Drake Relays the Jacks will only have one more meet (Howard Wood Dakota Relays) before The Summit League Outdoor Conference Championships.
