VERMILLION, S.D. – Elyse Eitel hit her fourth homerun of the season in Saturday’s series finale at South Dakota, but unfortunately for the Jackrabbits, it represented the lone run, as the host Coyotes completed the series sweep with a 7-1 win.

The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 11-21 on the season overall and to 1-8 in The Summit League, while the Coyotes improve to 25-12 overall and to 8-1 in league play.

Eitel finished the game 1-for-3 at the plate, as did Alex Landon and Marlee Petersen.

The Coyotes, who finished with 10 hits in the win, plated one run in the first, and then added four more in the third to take a 5-0 lead after three innings.

The Jacks got on the board in the fourth on the two-out homer from Eitel, but South Dakota got that run back and added one more with a two-run sixth to seal the win.

The Jackrabbits look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday, when they play a doubleheader at Creighton starting at 4 p.m.

SDSU then returns to Summit League play on Friday, when they open the home schedule against Oakland in a three game series that starts with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m.
