Jacks prep for the Duals

The South Dakota State track and field teams are traveling to Yankton, S.D. to compete in the USD/SDSU Duals on Saturday. The meet will take place at the Yankton High School. The field events will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the women’s javelin throw and the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase will start the running events at 1:00 p.m.

About the Meet:

The USD/SDSU Duals will be hosted by the University of South Dakota. South Dakota, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota and South Dakota State will all be competing in the meet.

About The Jackrabbits:

Brooke Garner is coming off a big win in the hammer throw at the Razorback Spring Invite. Her win last weekend was her 26th as a Jackrabbit. She currently leads The Summit League in the hammer throw and the discus throw. Her mark in the hammer measured 192’ 8.00” and she tossed the discus 160’ 0.00”.

Last weekend, Michael Krsnak set the school record in the 3,000-meter with his time of 8:23.17.

SDSU has three of the top four times in the 5000-meter run.

The Jackrabbits have 31 top-five times or marks in The Summit League.

Jared Foote leads The Summit League in the 400-meter dash with his time of 48.34.

Wild Wild West

Trent Lusignan currently ranks 27th in the 5,000-meter in the NCAA Division I West Region with a time of 14:13.11.

On the women’s side, Tera Potts’ time of 10:47.93 in the 3000-meter steeplechase ranks 31st.

Also in the West Region, Garner ranks 37th in the discus event and 17th in the hammer throw.

Looking Ahead:

SDSU will compete in the Sioux City Relays and the Nebraska Quad next weekend. The Sioux City Relays will take place on April 12-13 in Sioux City, Iowa and the Nebraska Quad will be on April 13 in Lincoln, Neb.
