Jacks 13th at Onion Creek Challenge

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- The South Dakota State women’s golf team sits in 13th place after the first two rounds of the Challenge at Onion Creek.

The Jacks shot rounds of 320 and 322 to open play on Monday at the 5,821-yard, par-70 Onion Creek Original Course.

Morgan Fitts finished the first day of the tourney tied for 34th after rounds of 74 and 77 (151). The senior had five birdies on the first 36 holes.

Sophomore Amber Houser carded rounds of 79 and 82 (161) and enters the final round tied for 58th place.

Freshman Sydney MacDonald posted scores of 83 and 80 for a 36-hole total of 163 and is tied for 61st place.

Freshman Brianna Janu shot rounds of 84 and 83 (167) and is tied for 66th entering play on Tuesday.

Rounding out the Jackrabbit golfers, sophomore Myranda Dunmire had two rounds of 87 (174) and sits in 68th place.

Gonzaga is atop the leader board in the team standings (279-268-567) and holds a six stroke lead over host Texas State heading into the final round.

Texas State’s Krista Puisite is the individual leader at two-under after 36 holes with rounds of 68 and 70 (138). Puisite has a one stroke advantage over Gonzaga’s Han Wu (71-68-139).

Play kicks-off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
