Men's golf 3rd through two rounds

BAKERSFIELD, CALIF -- The Jackrabbits completed the first two rounds of the CSU Bakersfield Spring Invitational on Monday and sit in third place after day one of the tournament.

SDSU shot 301 as a team in the opening round at the 6,804-yard, par-72 Bakersfield Country Club and hit 297 in the second round (598). The Jacks sit 17 strokes behind leader and host school CSU Bakersfield.

Other teams competing are Sonoma State, University of North Dakota and Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Junior Hudson Carpenter is in 4th after carding a pair of 73’s in the first two rounds (146). He’s three strokes back of leader Eric Ash of Sonoma State.

Sophomore Dillon Schultz is tied for 6th after rounds of 74 (148) to start the tournament.

A pair of Jackrabbits are tied for 11th with a 36-hole total of 152. Senior Greg Fehrman shot a 78 and 74 and freshmanMiles Knutsen posted scores of 76 in each round.

Junior Lukas Davison rounds out the five Jackrabbit men’s golfers on the trip, with scores of 79 and 78 (157) and sits in 19th.

The final round kicks off Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. (PT).
