SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - South Dakota State pounded out 12 hits on Sunday in the final game of the Gaucho Classic II against host UC Santa Barbara, but the Jackrabbits stranded nine runners in an 8-3 loss to the Gauchos.

The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 7-11, while the host Gauchos improve to 13-5 on the season.

Devon Reick and Sammy Bingham both went 3-for-4 at the plate, with Bingham knocking in two of the Jacks three runs with a two-run homerun in the sixth inning.

Unfortunately, Bingham's bomb cut the Gaucho lead to 7-3, and the hosts got one of those runs back in the top of the seventh for the final 8-3 score.

In addition to her two-run homer, Bingham scored the Jacks only other run of the game. She opened the fourth inning with a one-out single and stole second to get in position for Marlee Petersen, who singled her home for the first SDSU run of the game.

Kori Seidlitz pitched the first five innings in taking the loss before giving way to Jennifer Sutton for the final two innings.

The Jacks get Monday off before returning to the diamond at San Diego on Tuesday for a doubleheader against the Toreros at 11:30 a.m. PT, 1:30 p.m. CT.
