Jessica Eibs sets school record

LINCOLN, Neb. – In their final meet before The Summit League Indoor Championships the South Dakota State women’s track and field team broke their first school record of the year.


Freshman Jessica Eibs ran her first 600-meter run of her career and finished with a time of 1:35.88, setting a new SDSU record.  She finished fifth in the event. Stacy Huss who recorded a time of 1:35.98 at the Jack Johnson back in 2008 held the previous record. Before Huss’ time, Emily Oyen held the school record of 1:41.11 for 11 years.


Other Jackrabbits had personal bests in their respective events as well including, Tera Potts who placed fifth in the 800-meter run with her time of 2:15.61. Her previous best time was 2:17.41, her time ranks eighth in SDSU history.


Ashley Odegaard recorded a new personal best in the 60-meter dash with her time of 7.77 seconds. Her previous time was 7.80 seconds from last year; her time is still fourth on the SDSU all-time list.


Also in the 60-meter dash, Megan Bren placed ninth with a time of 7.84 and Carly Carper finished tenth with her time of 7.89 seconds. Carper also posted a top-ten SDSU time in the 200-meter dash with her time of 25.65 seconds. Her time ranks sixth in SDSU history.


Bren also placed 12th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.47 seconds.


Katie Boote claimed a top-ten finish in the 5000-meter run; she finished ninth with a time of 18:54.92.


In the 3000-meter run, Cheyanne Bowers took third overall with her time of 10:19.88.


Kali Olson posted a height of 5’ 5.00” in the high jump to place sixth.


In the triple jump, Jenna Stephens finished ninth with her distance of 35’ 10.50”.


The Jackrabbits also competed at the South Dakota Twilight in Vermillion, S.D.


Rachel Hagberg took eighth in the 60-meter dash with her time of 8.24 seconds. She also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.76.


Lori Foltz finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with her time of 1:00.39.


Karley Konkol placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.44.


Brooke Peterson clocked in at 5:22.78 during the mile run.


In the triple jump, Meghan Lambert recorded a distance of 33’ 07.25”.


McKenzie Johnson won the shot put with her distance of 47’ 07.75. This is Johnson’s second win of the season in the shot put. Shelby Assmus placed fifth with her mark of 46’ 03.25”.


Brooke Garner finished second in the weight throw with distance of 59’ 07.00”.


In the final event of the day, Marissia Hagedorn finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with her time of 9.19 seconds.


Next weekend is The Summit League Indoor Championships hosted by the University of South Dakota; The meet will take place on February 24th and 25th at the DakotaDome.
