Hogue, Ochsner lead Jacks at U of M

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - South Dakota State University swimmers Wil Hogue and Kyle Ochsner each turned in top-five individual performances Friday on the opening night of the Minnesota Challenge.

A sophomore from Chandler, Ariz., Hogue clocked a fourth-place time of 20.91 seconds in the men's 50-yard freestyle. He also anchored the Jackrabbits' runner-up 200 freestyle relay, teaming with Ben Bolinske, Blake Yeager and Phil Albu for a time of 1:25.88.

Ochsner, a senior from Jordan, Minn., finished behind four University of Minnesota swimmers for a fifth-place time of 4 minutes, 40.34 seconds in the 500 freestyle. Ochsner closed the session by swimming on the Jackrabbits' third-place 400 medley relay, teaming with Albu, Ethan McMahon and Garth Wadsworth for a time of 3:34.32.

Diving competition begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, with swimming events starting at 11 a.m. at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
