Jacks begin season in Mankato

MANKATO, Minn. – The SDSU men’s track and field team opened their 2012-13 indoor season Saturday at the MSU Preseason Open at Minnesota State-Mankato.

As a team, the Jackrabbits found great results in different events. The day started out with Cullen Mack winning the weight throw with a distance of 15.50m.

In the shot put, Kyle Anderson placed third with a distance of 13.88m.

Jeremiah Ary tied for fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.47m.

Also in the long jump, Ryan Schaefer and Dan Mitchell both tied for 11th with a distance of 6.03m. Schaefer also placed fifth in the pole vault with a height of 4.48m.

Nathaniel Schaefer and Tyler Hajek went eighth and 11th in the pole vault with heights of 4.33m and 4.03m respectively.

Jake Sanderson placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.40m.

In the high jump, Connor Berg took eighth. Berg had a height of 1.85m.

Chris Curry claimed second in the 200m dash. Curry had a time of 22.56 seconds, .21 seconds behind the winner.

Levi Winkels placed fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 51.66 seconds.

In the 300m dash SDSU took second through fourth. Justin Carson took second with a time of 36.18, Jesse Dunn was third in 36.24 and Dustin Gibbons was fourth in 36.46.

The Jackrabbits will have a month off before competing in the NDSU Invite on Jan. 12, 2013 in Fargo, N.D.
