SDSU is red hot at the Chile Pepper Invite

Brookings, S.D. — The men’s cross country finished fourth today in their first 10k of the season at the Chile Pepper Invite.


Michael Krsnak finished the day in ninth place, with a time of 30:37.7. Krsnak was just off of his personal best in 10k, which is 30:22.7.


Number one ranked Oklahoma State won the event, with six runners in the top 10. There were two runners in the top 10 that were not from Big 12 schools; Krsnak was one of the runners.


In 21st was Trent Lusignan, who finished with a time of 31:12.2. Lusignan’s time is a new personal best for him. His previous time was 33:05.8.


Jared Ailts finished in 33rd and also set a personal best with his time of 31:48.5.


Drew Kraft completed the course in 32:32.6, which was good enough for 73rd on the day.


Andrew Thies and Phillip LaVallee competed in their first 10k of their collegiate career. Thies and LaVallee completed the race in 32:54.7 (97) and 33:04.2 (110) respectively.


Kenny Mayer was right behind LaVallee with a time of 33:06.3, Mayer finished 113th on the day.

Overall the Jackrabbits finished fourth out 34 teams, with an average time of 31:49.14. All SDSU runners finished in the top 267 spots, there were 313 runners in the race.

SDSU will be back in action in two weeks in the Summit League Championships in Rochester, Mich. at 10 a.m. on Oct. 27.
