Soccer hosts Winnipeg on Friday

The South Dakota State women’s soccer team will begin their 2013 season with an exhibition game against the University of Winnipeg on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Jackrabbits will be returning nine starters from their 2012 campaign.

South Dakota State is returning Dani Patterson and Diana Potterveld who both made the All-Newcomer team. Potterveld was named the Freshman of the Year and was named as Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 29; she also made the all-conference first team. During conference play, Potterveld led the league in points (15), goals (six) and finished third in assists (three). Patterson was named as Defensive Player of Week on Oct. 22 and made the all-conference second team.

The 2013 Jacks will consist of four seniors, three juniors, one redshirt sophomore, eight sophomores, one redshirt freshman and nine freshmen.

The first 100 fans in attendance will receive a 2013 women’s soccer team poster.
