• Duke hits the road for the first time in 2014 to travel to Dallas to take on Southern Methodist
• The Blue Devils look to remain unbeaten while the Mustangs are aiming for their first win of the season

• Duke and Southern Methodist are meeting for the seventh time and for the second time under Duke head coach John Kerr
• The Mustangs have a 3-2-1 edge in the series and won the most recently matchup - a 1-0 overtime victory in the 2011 Duke Nike Invitational
• This marks the second time Duke has traveled to Dallas, falling to the Mustangs 3-0 in 1991

About the Mustangs
• SMU debuts at home Friday night against Duke after dropping a pair of tough contests against Big 10 foes Michigan State (L, 0-1) and Michigan (L, 0-3)  ... SMU was picked to finish sixth in the American Athletic Conference ... The Mustangs return 12 letterwinners and welcome 10 newcomers to the team ... Duke hits the road after going 1-0-1 to start the 2014 campaign ... The Blue Devils battled 2013 NCAA Tournament qualifier Loyola Marymount to a 1-1 draw and defeated Stetson 8-2 to win the John Rennie Nike Invitational ... Senior captain Sean Davis was voted the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after posting three assists against the Hatters and dominating play throughout the midfield for the weekend ... Rookie Cameron Moseley and sophomore Seo-In Kim both had a pair of goals in the win - their first career scores in a Blue Devil uniform ... Overall six different players had a goal against Stetson and 12 Blue Devils notched at least one point ... Joe Ohaus earned the starting nod in goal both games and currently owns a 1.42 goals against average and a .625 save percentage.

Homecoming Two Blue Devils
Friday night’s game will be a homecoming for freshman Bryson Asher and junior Zach “Chachi” Mathers ... Both grew up and played Academy soccer for Solar Chelsea in the greater Dallas area

Goals Galore
Duke heads to Dallas after putting up eight goals, seven of which came in the second half, against Stetson ... The eight tallies are the most since Duke scored 10 against Emory & Henry in 2004 ... Duke has nine goals in its two games and finished preseason with 12 goals in three games.

Davis Named to Top Drawer Weekly Team
On the strength of playing 190 minutes and dishing out three assists to lead Duke to the 2014 John Rennie Nike Invitational, Davis was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week ... His three assists against Stetson were the most by a Blue Devil since Chris Tweed-Kent had three against Furman in 2010 ... Davis’ three assists this season match his total from 2013.

Rookies Shine in Openers
Freshman Cameron Moseley headlined the rookie class, finishing with two goals and an assist in the 1-0-1 weekend ... Also scoring their first career goals as Blue Devils were Jeremy Ebobisse, Macario Hing-Glover and Bryson Asher ... Brian White provided a pair of assists, while Carter Manley notched his first point with a helper against Stetson ... Overall, Duke’s freshmen have 15 of the team’s 30 points.

Duke Features Young Lineup
Duke started at least five freshmen in each of its two games this past weekend ... Against Loyola Marymount, five of Duke’s starting XI were rookies, including three of the four in the final line of defense - Joe Ohaus (GK), Kevon Black (RB), Markus Fjørtoft (LB) ... Six freshmen, with the addition of Cameron Moseley, started against Stetson.

Davis Honored For All Around Excellence
Davis’ excellence on the field is well documented, but the two-year captain is equally as successful in both the classroom and the Duke community ... He recently was recognized for his exceptional character as one of the 30 nominees for the Senior CLASS Award ... An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes in community, classroom, character and competition ... Davis is an executive board member of Duke’s chapter of Athlete Ally as well as being involved in other volunteer opportunities on Duke’s campus ... In the classroom, Davis excels ... He has been named to the Duke Dean’s List in five of his six semesters and is a three-time All-ACC Academic Team member.

New Look in Goal
Duke has a new look in goal in 2014 as freshman Joe Ohaus earned the starting nod in both of Duke’s first two games ... The Players Development Academy product has allowed three goals in his 190 minutes of action and owns five saves.

The Blue Devils return home for their first midweek game Sept. 9 against Temple ... Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., against the Owls ... Duke opens ACC play the following Friday, Sept. 12 at No. 2 Louisville.
