DURHAM, N.C. – Four current members of the Duke women’s lacrosse team and two former Blue Devils will be among the 88 players taking part in the 2014-15 U.S. women’s national team tryouts this weekend in Washington, D.C.

Current Blue Devils Kelsey Duryea, Kerrin Maurer, Gabby Moise and Taylor Trimble will join recent graduate Taylor Virden and 2011 graduate Sarah Bullard in pursuit of a spot on Team USA at the tryouts, scheduled for Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15 at Georgetown University.

After the three-day tryout, approximately 36-40 players will be selected to the 2014-15 U.S. Women’s National Team, which will train as part of the lead-up to the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women’s World Cup in Surrey, England. Ultimately, 18 players will represent the U.S. as the team goes for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title.

Bullard registered eight goals during the United States’ run to its seventh FIL World Cup title last summer in Ontario. She was also a member of the 2009 U.S. World Cup championship squad and a two-time All-America selection during her collegiate career. Bullard was joined on the 2009 and 2013 World Cup team by former alumnae Megan Huether, who retired from the team last fall.

Duryea, Maurer, Moise, Trimble and Virden guided Duke to its 10th consecutive appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals this spring. The Blue Devils concluded the season with an 11-8 ledger and were ranked eighth in the final Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I poll.
