Alexis Jones was named Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday following leading second-ranked Duke to victories over 16th-ranked Purdue and 17th-ranked Oklahoma this past week.DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore guard
Jones, who is out of Irving, Texas, posted the first back-to-back 20-point performances of her career last week. She averaged 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 steals as Duke improved to 10-0 on the season.
On the road Sunday at 17th-ranked Oklahoma, Jones totaled 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in 38 minutes played. Jones also registered a team-high 22 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals on Thursday versus 16th-ranked Purdue at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
On the week, Jones hit 53.1 percent of her field goals and collected a 1.8 assist/turnover ratio. Her 10 field goals against Purdue was a career high, while her seven rebounds in both games matched a season high.
Duke will next host No. 1 Connecticut (10-0) on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 7:00 p.m., on ESPN2. It will be a part of the Jimmy V Women’s Basketball Classic in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
