DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, GoDuke.com sat down with senior Clint McKelvey to learn more about the Maryville, Tenn., native.
GoDuke.com: Name your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke.
Clint McKelvey: I would say the relationships I’ve been able to have with my teammates, being able to train in the Duke Forest and all of the other facilities that we get, like the K Center and tutoring.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite ‘in competition’ memory?
CM: My freshman year, we were ranked about 25th in the country and we went to the Roy Griak Invitational where we were running against seven ranked teams. I think most of them were ahead of us. We weren’t expected to win and we ended up coming away with a win, beating all of the teams ahead of us. We were ranked top 10 in the country after that, so that was a pretty fun moment.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite ‘out of competition’ memory?
CM: Going to the Duke basketball games.
GoDuke.com: Name three foods you can’t live without.
CM: Protein recovery drinks, dark chocolate almonds and peanut butter.
GoDuke.com: What are your favorite restaurants in Durham?
CM: Foster’s, Cookout and Nana’s if I’m not paying.
GoDuke.com: Name three places you would travel if you could.
CM: Europe, which I get to go to in May, Alaska, because my family went out there without me this summer and it looked cool and I’ve been to Australia before, but I’d like to go back.
GoDuke.com: Describe yourself in three words.
CM: Competitive, analytical and gregarious.
