DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, GoDuke.com sat down with senior John Coleman to learn more about the Florence, S.C., native.
GoDuke.com: Name your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke.
John Coleman: Being on a team with a lot of your really close friends is probably my favorite. Being able to compete on a weekly basis in the fall is also really exciting. Being a part of something bigger than yourself and working toward team-oriented goals is pretty awesome.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite ‘on the field memory’?
JC: Chapel Hill last year, when we got the victory bell back. That was without a doubt my favorite memory. Just unbelievable. One of the best games I’ve ever been a part of.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite ‘off the field’ memory?
JC: There’s a bunch. I think when I’m gone, the thing I’ll remember most is after you’ve dealt with a really hard practice, just hanging out with everybody in the locker room afterwards, just laughing and hanging out and trying to gain our composure after going through a brutal practice.
GoDuke.com: Name three of your favorite restaurants in Durham.
JC: Rick’s Diner, Watts Grocery and Hog’s Heaven Barbeque.
GoDuke.com: Name three pet peeves.
JC: Messiness, being late and bad manners.
GoDuke.com: Name three foods that you can’t live without.
JC: Barbeque, butter beans and fried fish.
