DURHAM, N.C. – The 2013 Duke Twilight was potentially the final collegiate track meet to be hosted in historic Wallace Wade Stadium, which the track and field team has called home for over 80 years.

It all began on March 28, 1931, with Duke defeating Washington & Lee in a dual meet, 74-52.  It would be impossible to realize on that cold and rainy afternoon that this same venue would host international meets including the USA – Pan-Africa meet in 1971, that brought in over 50,000 fans in two days, the USA vs. USSR during the height of the Cold War in 1974 in front of over 65,000 fans, the Martin Luther King Jr. Games in  and the return of USA vs Pan-Africa in 1994 that included 11 world champions and three Olympic champions.  Wallace Wade has also hosted eight Southern Conference Championships, 10 ACC Championships and NCAA Championships in 1990 and 2000.

Check out this video to learn more about the stadiums impressive track history and discover what is in store for the program’s future.
