DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke senior Adam Sumrall was named Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week after guiding the Blue Devils to the 2013 ACC Men’s Golf Championship at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. The South Bend, Ind., native fired an eight-under 208 to finish fifth at the event as Duke claimed the league title for the seventh time in program history.

Sumrall was outstanding throughout the tournament registering 12 birdies and 39 pars over the 54-hole event. He had a string of 36 consecutive holes of bogey-free golf en route to his third top 5 finish of the season. Sumrall’s efforts also helped Duke set a school 54-hole scoring mark with a 25-under 839 as well as match the school’s 18-hole scoring record with a 15-under 273 in the second round of the ACC Championship.

With the victory, Duke claimed its seventh ACC title in school history and its first since 2005. The Blue Devils also matched a school record with five tournament wins this season.
