DURHAM, N.C. - Duke junior libero Ali McCurdy was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and joined senior Christiana Gray on the 2012 All-ACC team as announced by the league office Wednesday.

Blue Devil freshmen Elizabeth Campbell and Emily Sklar also earned spots on the ACC All-Freshman Team. All league awards and all-conference teams are voted on by the ACC's 12 head coaches.

McCurdy, a 5-7 junior from Tampa, Fla., made her third consecutive appearance on the All-ACC squad after once again leading the conference in digs per set (5.25). She surrendered just 23 receiving errors in 32 matches and anchored a Duke defense that limited opponents to .192 hitting. McCurdy totaled 20 or more digs in 16 matches this season, while surpassing 30 digs three times. With 672 digs, McCurdy broke the Duke single-season record, a mark she had set just last season. She ranks second in the school career records with 1,927 career digs and is on pace to become the second Blue Devil with 2,000 career digs.

Gray, a 6-5 middle blocker from Carmel, Ind., was a solid presence for Duke all season as she garnered her third All-ACC recognition. She led the Blue Devils in hitting percentage (.308) while also averaging 1.07 blocks per set. Gray reached the 300-kill mark for the second straight season and also set career highs in blocks per set, attacks and total points. One of just 21 Blue Devils to reach 1,000 career kills, she finishes her four seasons in Durham with 1,112 kills and 491 blocks, the fourth-highest total in school history.

Campbell, a 6-2 rightside hitter/middle blocker from Parker, Colo., emerged as one of the top rookies in the ACC after totaling 296 kills and 92 blocks. She averaged 2.39 kills per set and also contributed 16 service aces. Campbell reached double-digit kills 11 times, including seven of Duke's final eight matches, while also picking up four double-doubles.

Sklar, a 6-3 outside hitter from San Jose, Calif., had an immediate impact on the Blue Devils, earning ACC Freshman of the Week honors twice this year. She finished the 2012 campaign with 319 kills, 235 digs, 35 blocks and 23 service aces. Sklar led the team with 10 double-doubles and reached double-digit kills 18 times this season.

Duke has now had multiple All-ACC selections for six consecutive seasons and 76 honorees all-time.
