MIAMI (May 8, 2012) - FIU senior Katie Mundy will be paired with Columbia sophomore Michelle Piyapattra and Furman junior Laura Wearn as the trio tee off in first and second round competition at the NCAA East Regional held at Penn State's Blue Course in State College, Pa., May 10-12.

The trio's tee time will be 8:25 a.m. (ET) in Thursday's first round and 12:45 p.m. for Friday's second round.

Mundy, a native of Hampshire, England, is coming off a second-place finish in the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Championship, where the All-SBC selection led the first two days of the event before losing the individual title on a one-hole playoff in round three. On the year, Mundy leads the conference with a stroke average of 73.96 through 27 rounds. Her best finish was the second-place result in the SBC Tournament, in which Mundy shot a 1-under-par, 215 -- her best score of the year. She has twice shot a season-best, 3-under-par, 69, to tie her career-low for a round. Mundy posted seven top-20 finishes this season.

Piyapattra was named the Ivy League Women's Golfer of the Year in 2012 and posted a 74.52 round average over nine events this year. Wearn will be making her second appearance in an NCAA Regional and her first as an individual, while posting a 75.2 stroke average over 28 rounds during the 2011-12 season.

Three regional tournaments will be conducted May 10-12 to determine the championship field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA Championship competition, and all national championship policies apply.

A total of 378 participants have been selected for regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional. The championship finals will be held May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., and will be hosted by Vanderbilt.
