MIAMI (June 7, 2012) --- FIU Men's Soccer Head Coach Kenny Arena announced the addition of Jean Camere as assistant coach and Phillip Lamarre as volunteer assistant coach. Both Camere and Lamarre are former men's soccer student-athletes at FIU.

"I'm excited to welcome Jean and Phil back into the FIU family," Arena said. "When I started the search, I hoped that I'd be able to incorporate former Panthers into the coaching staff. Both coaches share the passion, work ethic, and philosophy our team will exemplify on the field. They are both valuable assets to the program and I'm looking forward to working with them for years to come."

Camere played for St. John's University in New York during the 2002-03 seasons where he competed in the NCAA Division I Final against Indiana. The following year he transferred to FIU and played during the 2004-05 seasons. After starting 14 of 16 games for FIU, Camere earned First-Team All-Atlantic Soccer Conference honors while leading the Panthers to the ASC Championship. Locally, Camere is an alumnus of Gulliver Prep in Miami, Fla.

After graduating from FIU, Camere took on the position of head coach of Boys' Varsity Soccer at Immaculata La Salle High School in Miami. During his tenure at La Salle, the Boys' Varsity Soccer Team tallied an overall record of 43-12-8 while reaching the district finals in each of his three seasons. After leaving La Salle, Camere took over the head coaching position for Weston FC where he prepared players for academy level competition.

In addition to welcoming Camere back, Lamarre, a fellow FIU alumni and former FIU goalkeeper, is also joining the men's soccer program as a volunteer goalkeepers coach.

Lamarre played his first three seasons of collegiate soccer at FAU and earned Second-Team All-Atlantic Soccer Conference honors during his freshman and sophomore seasons.  He currently holds FAU records for most career shutouts (14), minutes (5,091:50) and sits second in saves (205) and wins (22).

Lamarre transferred to FIU his senior year where he played in 9 of 17 games, accumulating 40 saves during the season. Since 2007, Lamarre has been an active assistant coach for his alma mater Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for both the Boys' and Girls' Varsity Soccer teams. Lamarre is also currently a goalkeepers coach for Women's Team Boca and Boca Blast of the Women's Premier Soccer League. Lamarre is a former Miami Herald Player of the Year at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
